KIMS conducts a range of training programs for medical graduates and other health professionals.

They may be categorised under:

Accreditation Criteria and Standards

Accreditation criteria should be met by all training centers and training programs. They can be reviewed as per the booklet.

Internship Program

Newly qualified medical graduates follow a basic training program (rotating internship) conducted at various hospitals of the Ministry of Health, under the supervision of KIMS. At present, training is offered at the following hospitals: Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, Amiri Hospital, Adan Hospital, Sabah Hospital, Jahra Hospital, Farwania Hospital, and Maternity Hospital During this one-year period, the interns follow courses in Medical Ethics and in Cardiac Life Support, in addition to formal internship training.

Postgraduate Training

A number of Faculties and Committees have been established to initiate and coordinate postgraduate training in the different specialties.

These are:

  • Faculty of Internal Medicine - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Surgery - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Pediatrics - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Obstetrics & Gynecology - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Primary Care - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Public Health - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Laboratory Medicine - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Radiology - KIMS,
  • Committee on Nuclear Medicine - KIMS,
  • Faculty of Anesthesia and Intensive Care- KIMS,
  • Faculty of Dentistry - KIMS.
