Organizing CME/CPD Activities

The following institutions and organizations that function at a national level are accredited as CME/CPD Providers. They take the overall responsibility for organizing conferences, courses, symposia, seminars and other educational activities for CME accreditation:
1. Faculties of KIMS;
2. Health Sciences Faculties of Kuwait University;
3. National-level specialty divisions of the Ministry of Health;
4.

Health professions associations, e.g. Kuwait Medical Association, Kuwait Dental Association and their specialty societies, Kuwait Pharmaceutical Association, and Kuwait Nursing Association

Information for CME/CPD Organizers
MPC Program and Guidelines to CME Organizers are two publications that give details on procedures and requirements for registering CME/CPD activities. They may be downloaded here or obtained from the CME Center.

Role of Non-Ministry Institutions in CME/CPD

Application for Accreditation
Organizers who wish to conduct CME/CPD activities are required to submit an application to the CME Center of KIMS for accreditation of each of the proposed activities.

Registering Activities
Use online application or download the Application Form to submit a hard copy version to the CME Center for applying for registration of CME activities. The form consists of two sections: I. Administration Details and II. Academic Details. Information on the duration (in hours) and the type of individual sessions is essential for CME/CPD credits to be calculated.

Printouts of the online form are not accepted, as the form is likely to be incomplete. We request CME/CPD organizers to use the online format.

The maximum number of credits that would be allocated to a single CME/CPD activity (e.g. symposium, conference, seminar, training program, etc.) is 25 credits.

When an activity is completed...
The CME organizer is expected to maintain a list of the participants who completed it satisfactorily (Attendance at Program - Form III). The CME Center also requires an Evaluation Report to be prepared. (Sample evaluation forms for preparing an Evaluation Report - Form IVa, Form IVb).

Certificate of Participation
The Coordinator or Organizer of the activity should issue a Letter of Attendance to every participant who satisfactorily completed the CME activity (Format of certificate).
