Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization (KIMS) of the Ministry of Health, State of Kuwait is the authority responsible for organizing all aspects of postgraduate training of medical practitioners and other health professionals in Kuwait.

KIMS was established in 1984 under a decree issued by HH the Amir of Kuwait. The institute is engaged in a variety of activities, including the organization of internship training of pre-registration medical graduates, specialty training at various levels in different medical fields, and continuing medical education programs for health professionals practicing in Kuwait.

KIMS an Examination Center for UK Royal Colleges

KIMS now functions as a regional examination center for the following Membership Examinations of the Royal Colleges in the UK for physicians practicing in the GCC countries:
   MRCP (UK)
   MRCS
   MRCOG
   MRCPCH
   MRCGP

This facility constitutes a valuable opportunity for physicians to assess their competencies and obtain recognized qualifications for advancement in their careers. Further information is available at the websites of the respective colleges.

Bulletin of the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization

Volume 6, Number 2 of the Bulletin of Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization is now available online in PDF format.

While the timely editorial in the current issue highlights the need for institutional accreditation, the CME/CPD articles presented deal with the themes of management of skin diseases in General Practice and common throat infections.

Health Vision 2020
Workforce Needs of Health Professionals in Kuwait

Health Vision 2020 indicates the projected needs for different categories of health professionals up to 2020 for maintaining an optimum level of health care services for the community. The publication deals with physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals.

MPC Program
Substantive Recognition by RCPSC

The MPC Program of KIMS is substantively recognized by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Fellows of the College practicing in Kuwait have the option of participating in the MPC Program in lieu of the RCPSC's MOC Program.
